Backup design and solutions

Backups are the most valuable thing a company has in the event of a hacker attack. It is, therefore, important to place great emphasis on their security. The more backups, the greater the security and the more restful the sleep at night (not only) for the IT department.

While this may seem like a simple task, there are a few rules to keep in mind and security procedures to follow.

What our service looks like

First of all, we offer a check of the current systems and their reliability and then propose measures.

We use Veeam Backup & Replication, the globally recognized software
For monitoring progress, we use the Zabbix monitoring system connected to our 24/7 help desk Requests for backup restore testing are regularly generated once a month at minimum or for the shortest RP (restore point). This means if you keep backups for 2 weeks, you test recoverability once every 2 weeks.
At the start of the contracted service, in cooperation with the client we perform a test recovery of the environment and write a DRP. We try to separate backups from the production environment as much as possible and keep them independent from other company resources (use own HW for backups, do not use AD or other Radius service for authentication)

We do not rely on one method only, for example back up databases with an extra method Backups are not only data backups, it is also important to think about configuration backups of infrastructure – switches, firewalls, APs and other elements.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the Microsoft 365 environment also needs to be backed up. We do not recommend relying solely on Microsoft's own backups.
